No live music on a dead planet

The arts cannot exist without the environment. Sound Strike is a group of artists united by this message who will be striking on Friday September 20 to protest the lack of action on climate change. We will stand in solidarity with the million strong Climate Strike protests occurring around the world on the same day, and say that we cannot sit idly by while our communities, arts, and livelihoods are threatened by political inaction.

Our demands are the following:

  1. 100% publicly owned renewable energy by 2030

  2. A just transition to climate jobs

  3. No new sources of fossil fuels

Over 20 000 students and workers marched in Sydney during the last Climate Strike, with higher numbers expected in September.

Music simply cannot exist without an environment in which it can be written, performed, and experienced.
